Using GPS and wide area networking technology, you can track your assets in real-time across your plant, your site or the entire planet.
Assets aren't restricted to large vehicles - you can use tracking systems to monitor any portable equipment or even your employees as they move through your plant.
You can highlight work areas, display work permits, show hazards and much more that would normally be invisible to the naked eye.
A map is a 2D representation of a 3D world. It is very useful when depth isn't a problem, but the second that you introduce a second level - let alone the dozens of levels that can occur in building or mining - they become much less useful.
By adding the 3rd dimension to your tracking solution, you can show exactly where an item is in your plant including the floor they can be found on.
This additional information can save huge amounts of time when trying to track down an asset in a large or complex site.
Data from the tracked items can be watched either live or from recorded historical readings.
Normally you would see the items in their current positions, watching as they move around your plant and interact with eachother. But if you want to replay a particular incident, you can quickly move your camera to the required location and replay the events as if they were happening right now.
Unlike a map, you aren't restricted to one single top-down view.
With the freedom a 3D environment gives you, you can zoom down to any part of your plant at any angle to see your assets moving.
You can move in close to see just how close a near-miss was, or watch an accident occur from the ideal vantagepoint to discover what the fault may have been.
You can even zoom down into the cab of a truck, behind the wheel of a car or onto the bridge of a ship to see things from their perspective. You can even access web cameras if they are available.
The data from your assets is not restricted to position alone. You can measure any information you like and have it transmitted as well.
If you need to know total uptime, fuel remaining, load weight, tire pressure or any other variable, it is available for you. You can even raise alarms when fuel is low or loads are too heavy.
